Clean Air Zones as dates near

Birmingham, Leeds, Southampton and York are all consulting over plans to introduce Clean Air Zones (CAZs) in line with government requirements. All have differing closing dates.

Southampton City Council has announced the next consultation phase on its CAZ. Its preferred option impacts heavily on coaches, while notably cars are excluded.

As the UK’s largest cruise port and with cruise transfers providing a significant source of business, coach operators are urged to read the proposals, consider the impact on their businesses, and respond accordingly. The closing date is 13 September.

Leeds City Council has launched a further round of consultation on the proposals for a CAZ in the city centre. The closing date is 12 August

York City Council’s proposed CAZ covers the area within, and including the Inner Ring Road. The closing date is 3 August.

Birmingham City Council is proposing a CAZ, where “the most polluting vehicles” will have to pay to enter the city centre: All the roads within the A4540 Middleway ring road. The closing date is 17 August.
